Why Your Annual Medicare Review Matters

Medicare isn't a set-it-and-forget-it decision. Plans change every year — and so can your needs.

Plans Change Every Year

Medicare Advantage and Part D plans may update their benefits, premiums, and drug formularies annually. Reviewing your plan each year can help ensure it still meets your needs.

Doctor Networks Can Change

Provider networks may change from year to year. An annual review can help confirm whether your preferred doctors and specialists may still be covered under your plan.

Prescription Costs Can Change

Drug formularies may shift each year. A medication covered at a lower cost tier one year may move to a higher cost tier the next. Reviewing your coverage annually may help manage costs.

Benefits Vary by ZIP Code & County

Plan availability, benefits, and costs may differ by ZIP code and county. Options available in one area may not be available in another. A licensed agent can help review what may be available in your location.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Medicare enrollment, plan options, and working with a licensed agent.

When do most people become eligible for Medicare?

Most people become eligible for Medicare at age 65. Your Initial Enrollment Period begins 3 months before your 65th birthday month and ends 3 months after your 65th birthday month. Some people may qualify earlier due to disability or certain health conditions.

Can I change my Medicare plan?

Yes. You may be able to change Medicare plans during certain enrollment periods, such as the Annual Enrollment Period from October 15 through December 7, or during a Special Enrollment Period if you qualify due to certain life events such as moving, losing coverage, or gaining Medicaid eligibility.

What is the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement?

Medicare Advantage, also called Part C, is an alternative way to receive Medicare benefits through a private insurance company. Medicare Supplement, also called Medigap, works with Original Medicare to help pay certain out-of-pocket costs such as copays, coinsurance, and deductibles. They cannot be used together.

Can I keep my doctor?

It depends on the plan. Medicare Advantage plans usually have provider networks, so your doctor may need to be in-network. Medicare Supplement plans generally allow you to see any doctor who accepts Medicare. We help check your doctors before reviewing plan options.

Do Medicare plans vary by ZIP code?

Yes. Medicare Advantage and Part D plan availability, benefits, premiums, provider networks, and drug formularies can vary by ZIP code and county. That is why reviewing plans based on your specific location is important.
